Ross and Rachel apparently weren't the only will-they-won't-they couple on the set of Friends. It turns out Jennifer Aniston and David Schwimmer experienced that a bit themselves while filming the classic show. During Friends: The Reunion on HBO Max, Jennifer and David discussed their relationship and revealed there was some real-life chemistry behind the TV show couple.

"The first season, I had a major crush on Jen," David admitted during the special. But the affection wasn't one-sided. "It was reciprocated," Jen said.

Unfortunately, the pair never did get together. "At some point we were both crushing hard on each other, but it was like two ships passing [in the night], because one of us was always in a relationship and we never crossed that boundary. We respected that."

During the first few seasons, Jennifer was involved with the late actor Daniel McDonald as well as Counting Crows frontman Adam Duritz and actor Tate Donavan. Then, she started dating Brad Pitt in 1998 before getting married in 2000. David, meanwhile, was involved with "Torn" singer Natalie Imbruglia in the late '90s.

Still, that didn't keep Jen and David from getting close. The pair reminisced how they would cuddle on the coach together during breaks in filming. "I’m thinking, 'How did not everyone know we were crushing on each other?'" David said. Apparently, though, Jen and David weren't as discreet as they thought. Both Matthew Perry and Courteney Cox revealed they both new about Jen and David's crushes.

In the end, the pair seem content with the fact that nothing really happened between them. "How great, though, ultimately, because if you had and it didn't work out it would have probably not been as great," Courteney said. Instead, Jennifer explained that they put their feelings for each other into their acting. "We just channeled all of our adoration and love for each other into Ross and Rachel."

Honestly, just knowing that some of that Ross and Rachel love was real already makes me so much more excited to dive into my fourth rewatch of the series. The "we were on a break" scene is never going to be the same.
