Two weeks after Matthew Perry's untimely death at the age of 54, Jennifer Aniston and Courteney Cox are ready to share their deeply heartfelt tributes to their Friends costar.

Perry was found dead of an apparent drowning at his home in Los Angeles on October 28. Immediately following the news of his death, the rest of the famously tight-knit cast—Aniston, Cox, Matt LeBlanc, Lisa Kudrow, and David Schwimmer—released a joint statement about the actor: “We are all so utterly devastated by the loss of Matthew,” their statement, signed by all five stars, read. “We were more than just cast mates. We are a family. There is so much to say, but right now we’re going to take a moment to grieve and process this unfathomable loss.”

After LeBlanc shared his own moving farewell message on November 13, Cox and Aniston followed suit. On November 14, Cox shared a clip from Friends that all fans will immediately recognize as the beginning of her and Perry's onscreen relationship. “I am so grateful for every moment I had with you Matty and I miss you every day,” she wrote. “When you work with someone as closely as I did with Matthew, there are thousands of moments I wish I could share. For now here’s one of my favorites.”

She also shared “a little backstory” about the iconic scene, in which Ross walks in on Chandler in bed while Monica hides under the covers, and a sweet anecdote about Perry's generosity as an actor. “Chandler and Monica were supposed to have a one night fling in London,” wrote Cox. “But because of the audience’s reaction, it became the beginning of their love story. In this scene, before we started rolling, he whispered a funny line for me to say. He often did things like that. He was funny and he was kin.”

The following day, on November 15, Aniston shared a tribute of her own, opening with the admission that Perry's passing “cut deep.”

“Having to say goodbye to our Matty has been an insane wave of emotions that I’ve never experienced before,” she wrote alongside a carousel of images and video. “We all experience loss at some point in our lives. Loss of life or loss of love. Being able to really SIT in this grief allows you to feel the moments of joy and gratitude for having loved someone that deep. And we loved him deeply. He was such a part of our DNA. We were always the 6 of us.”

She continued, “This was a chosen family that forever changed the course of who we were and what our path was going to be. For Matty, he KNEW he loved to make people laugh. As he said himself, if he didn't hear the ‘laugh’ he thought he was going to die. His life literally depended on it. And boy did he succeed in doing just that. He made all of us laugh. And laugh hard. In the last couple weeks, I’ve been pouring over our texts to one another. Laughing and crying then laughing again. I’ll keep them forever and ever. I found one text that he sent me out of nowhere one day. It says it all.”

A screenshot of the exchange Aniston refers to appears in the second slide of her post: Perry sent the actor a Friends-era photo of Aniston appearing to laugh at something he'd just said, along with the message, “Making you laugh just made my day. It made my day :)”

She concluded her farewell tribute, “You always made my day…”

The final slide of her carousel is a clip from Friends where Aniston's character Rachel says goodbye to Perry's Chandler. The heartfelt moment, in which Aniston fights back tears, continues to make fans weep decades after it first aired. Watching it back after Perry's passing is guaranteed to make you cry all over again.
