Chanel restaged its 2023 Métiers d’art collection — which debuted on the runway in Dakar back in December — in Tokyo on Thursday. Naturally, Jennie from Blackpink was there, stealing the show from the front row.

Coming off of both the Cannes Film Festival and a world tour, the idol looked like she stepped out of a Chanel-ified fairy tale or book of myths in a tiered black velvet cape, white lace tights and crystal-embellished hood from the Fall 2023 ready-to-wear collection. Her accessories all featured the brand's signature camellia — on her sparkly choker, on her fingerless leather gloves, on her circular mini bag.

Chanel's métiers d'art collections put a spotlight on the work of its 11 maisons d'art, responsible for the fine craftsmanship seen in its products, from careful embroidery to intricate buttons. This particular line was originally revealed in Senegal — Chanel's first time doing a show in Africa. The re-staging is also part of a broader trend: Major fashion houses taking collections on the road, and recreating the runway in different cities. (Next up: Carolina Herrera in Rio de Janeiro.)
