Jenna Ortega Says She's Single Because the "Idea of Relationships Stresses Me Out"

Jenna Ortega's character Wednesday Addams may have been caught up in a love triangle in Netflix's Wednesday, but the 20-year-old actor is enjoying the single life off-screen. Jenna revealed her preference for gore and dished on her current relationship status during an interview for ELLE magazine's April 2023 cover.

According to Jenna, she prefers horror roles like Wednesday and Scream VI over romantic comedies. "I hate being goo-goo gaga over a boy," she began. "I think it’s secretly a pride thing. It's a problem with a lot of female characters that a lot of them are guy oriented or what they're expressing or emoting is based on a guy's position and a guy's story."

Jenna says she's too preoccupied with her career to focus on dating and relationships. "Maybe I am too obsessed with my work, but the idea of relationships stresses me out," she added. "And also being that vulnerable with someone and having to get to know someone that well and having someone see you for all that you are... My brain knows that I don’t need to think about that right now."

While she may not be interested in dating atm, Jenna did reveal a childhood crush she had growing up. According to Jenna, her mom laughed when she told her that she wanted to become an actress because two weeks before she made up her mind, Jenna told her mom that she had a huge crush on President Barack Obama and wanted to become the first female president. "I had phases where I clung to something and then made it my entire personality," the Wednesday star revealed. "To this day, I’m still obsessed with Obama." Same, Jenna. Same.
