While in West Hollywood for the premiere of her newest film, the thriller “Finestkind” — which releases on Paramount+ on Dec. 15 — Ortega posed in a towering pair of pumps by Andrea Wazen. The actress’ $750 Double Jeu style featured smooth white leather uppers across its pointed-toe silhouette, which included a thick platform base.
Ortega’s footwear was complete with tall, 6.49-inch block heels for a dynamic height boost. The “Wednesday” star’s pair were securely finished with two sets of thin Mary Jane-style straps, bringing the slick pumps a preppy flair.

Ortega’s heels added a soaring base to the rest of her ensemble, which was styled by Enrique Mendelez. The actress’ look prominently featured a sheer white blazer — complete with a corseted bodice, intricate allover embroidery and pannier waistline — from Adeam’s spring 2024 collection, sharply layered atop a matte bandeau and briefs for a sleek edge. A two-toned top-handle bag, as well as gleaming diamond-covered collar necklace and drop earrings from Al Zain.
Ortega’s premiere look notably made use of the Mary Jane trend — which has soared in popularity in 2023, bringing a preppy twist to flats, loafers and pumps with single, double and multiple straps. First originating in the early 1900’s, the secure shoe detail has been used to bring otherwise simple and versatile footwear styles a chic flair. In the 2020’s, it’s been key within numerous aesthetic movements like “balletcore” and “dark academia” — and created cult-favorite shoe styles across a range of brands, including Miu Miu, Dolce Vita, Sam Edelman, Nodaleto, Kate Spade New York and more.
In Ortega’s case, the Mary Janes received multiple modern twists from her ensemble’s own elements — sheer textures, romantic vintage inspirations, monochrome palettes and dynamic high heels. All came together to create a look that was both distinctly current while also paying homage to fashion’s past — and moving the Mary Jane forward into a new era.
