Jenna Bush Hager's Daughters Love Queso as Much as Their Mom
Looking for Super Bowl queso dip? Jenna Bush Hager to the rescue. Needless to say, ever-tasty queso isn't limited to Super Bowl season only, as it's a year-round staple in many Southern households, especially in the Lone Star State.
"I absolutely love queso. Queso is basically considered a food group in Texas," Jenna recently quipped to TODAY Food. "Growing up, when my mom was tired of cooking, we would go out to eat at least once a week, and it was almost always Mexican, so we ate a lot of queso!"
Here at Southern Living, we never tire of a good queso recipes, whether it's Roasted Poblano Queso or Queso-Filled Mini Peppers. When we learned that Bush Hager's signature queso was a riff on a menu item dubbed "Mag Mud" served at The Magnolia Cafe in Austin, we were intrigued.
In Bush Hager's version, she uses the usual suspects like Velveeta, Ro-tel Original Diced Tomatoes & Green Chilies (of course), and an onion, with the addition of flavor boosters like avocados, refried beans, and taco seasoning. Get the full recipe here.

Her queso is such a hit that even fellow TODAY star Savannah Guthrie can't get enough of it. "From keto to Dorito: my weekend in a nutshell," Guthrie joked in a recent Instagram post featuring the cheesy dish flecked with vibrant red tomatoes.

The real evidence that Bush Hager is onto something genius though? "My daughters love it! Honestly, they love it so much they tried to eat it with a spoon and thought it was cheese soup," Jenna said to TODAY Food, "which definitely isn't a bad idea!"
