Jeffrey Garten's Favorite Recipe from Ina's New Cookbook Is So Southern

Ina Garten's new cookbook, Cook Like a Pro: Recipes and Tips for Home Cooks, is here and while we're ready to cook up a storm from her Truffled Scrambled Eggs to her Chocolate Chevron Cake, husband Jeffrey thinks one meal trumps all: Ina's oh-so-tasty Red Wine Braised Short Ribs and Blue Cheese Grits.

When asked to reveal Jeffrey's #1 from the new tome, Ina Garten told The Kitchn, "The nice thing about Jeffrey is that he likes whatever I made last! Particularly, though, he likes the red wine braised short ribs and blue cheese grits. Those got rave reviews." Jeffrey may live in East Hampton, Long Island and Southport, Connecticut (he's a professor at Yale University), but his penchant for Southern cuisine isn't all that surprising given his upbringing.

"I'm not really from anywhere," Garten said in a 2016 issue of Johns Hopkins Magazine. "[Jeffrey Garten] was an Army brat; the Gartens moved around a lot, and he mentions Germany, North Carolina, Kentucky, Kansas, England, Virginia, and Rhode Island as one-time homes," continues Greg Rienzi in his profile of the financier and professor. Of course, we can't pinpoint where his love for an indulgent plate of ribs and rich, creamy grits was ignited, but we're guessing it wasn't in Germany.
