Burton and Morgan met in May 2009 through his Supernatural castmate Jensen Ackles and Ackles' wife Danneel, who set them up on a blind date.

"Twelve years ago today, @jensenackles and @danneelackles512 made me go on a blind date," Burton wrote on Instagram in 2021. "The smokin hot @jeffreydeanmorgan showed up and it was game over.
