The new Netflix miniseries Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story chronicles one of America's most famous serial killer's horrific and tragic murders between the years 1978 and 1991.

Jeffrey Dahmer killed mainly homosexual teens and young men, many of whom were people of color, per Encyclopedia Britannica. He often found his targets in public areas, such as malls, bars, and bus stops, and would lure them back to his home with promises of money or sex.

When the men got to his house, Dahmer would drug his victims and kill them, often having sex with their bodies before dismembering them, according to Biography.

Dahmer often kept gruesome souvenirs from his killings, and discarded his victims' bones in a 57-gallon drum, the New York Times reported.

His terrible crimes went undetected for more 10 years.

Dahmer killed 17 people before being arrested in 1991. One of his victims was Jamie Doxtator.

James, "Jamie," Doxtator met Jeffrey Dahmer in 1988 while waiting at a bus stop outside of a gay club, The Tampa Bay Times reported. The serial killer lured the young boy in by promising him cash.

Dahmer brought Jamie back to his grandmother's house, where he drugged him. Milwaukee court records show that Jeffrey had sex with Jamie before killing him.

Dahmer strangled Jamie in the basement before dismembering the body. He used a sledgehammer to smash the remains into pieces that could never be found, according to police, per The Tampa Bay Times.

Jamie Doxtator was only 14 years old.

Jamie ran away from home to escape an abusive stepfather on January 16, 1988, according to The Tampa Bay Times. He met Dahmer two days later.

His mother reported her son's disappearance to the police but didn't hear anything until he was identified as one of Dahmer's victims, according to The Tampa Bay Times.

Dahmer didn't remember Jamie's face but instead recalled him by a scar on his body, per AP News.

Jamie was standing outside a gay club called The 219 Club in Milwaukee when Jeffrey offered him money and led him back to his grandmother's house, per The Tampa Bay Times.

Jeffrey met several of his other victims, such as Tony Hughes, at the same location.

Jamie's mother spoke out after her son's death.

Jamie's mother, Debbie Vega, said she wanted to "forget about it for a little while,″ when officially hearing the news about her son's death, according to AP News.

Jamie's mother described him as an independent and outgoing teenager who got into trouble and cut school.

″Jamie was always hyperactive, and a lot of people misunderstood him,″ Vega said. ″But he had a lot of love...I loved him,″ AP News reported.
