Jeff Lowe Doesn’t Own the 'Tiger King’ Zoo Anymore

Filmmakers Eric Goode and Rebecca Chaiklin have returned with more Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness content. After the docuseries first premiered on Netflix on March 20, 2020, people binged the show in its entirety, then couldn’t stop talking about the eccentric Joe Exotic, his string of husbands, or his shocking plot to murder his rival, animal activist Carole Baskin. Then, there was a reunion special titled Tiger King and I, where Exotic’s former employees updated fans on their lives after the show, and shared their post-documentary thoughts on Exotic.

It turns out the story didn’t end there, and Goode and Chaiklin had enough for a whole sequel docuseries, Tiger King 2. And that’s not all. There’s also a dramatic adaptations of the Tiger King story in production, with Kate McKinnon as Carole Baskin.

But Carole Baskin and Joe Exotic weren’t the only eccentric characters in Netflix’s docuseries Tiger King. Exotic’s former friend Jeff Lowe also caught viewers by surprise. One of his most memorable moments occurred at the end of the original docuseries, when he mentioned he and his wife were getting a nanny. During the reunion special, he mentioned to host Joel McHale the nanny they’d found was “excellent.” His wife Lauren, also had choice words to describe their new employee.

“Hot!”

So it’s no shock people want to know what Jeff and his wife have been up to since Tiger King 2 dropped. Last we saw, Lowe owned Exotic’s former zoo, and had plans to open his own zoo. Here’s everything we know about Jeff Lowe.

What Happened to Jeff Lowe?

In June of last year, Deadline reported a judge granted Baskin full control over Exotic’s GW Zoo, and Lowe, who was then running the property, had 120 days to vacate the zoo, along with all of his animals. In August, the GW Zoo officially closed for good and Baskin sold the land, with the promise it would never be used to house animals again.

They also tried to start a new park in Thackerville, Oklahoma, but never opened it to the public. According to Fox News, the landlord sued them for $10,000 and evicted the couple in October 2021.

And that’s only some of the money they owe. According to The New York Times, Lowe and his wife owe money to veterinary services, lawyers, and the state of Oklahoma for back taxes, which The Oklahoman reports they’ve now reached a monthly payment plan for.

Jeff Lowe is also a wanted man in Las Vegas, where he was a no-show in court this past summer. A judge issued four bench warrants. It doesn’t look like he’ll be hanging around tigers again anytime soon.

Unfortunately, there’s no news on the nanny.

Tiger King 2 is currently streaming on Netflix.
