The Jeff Bezos vs. National Enquirer scandal has reached Shakespearian proportions. In a series of interviews with Vanity Fair, Michael Sanchez-the brother of Lauren Sanchez, the woman Bezos is currently dating-dropped a bombshell: that Bezos considered buying the National Enquirer's parent company, American Media Inc., in order to find out who leaked his private photos and texts.

Sanchez told the magazine that Lauren and Bezos first called him in January after the Enquirer asked couple to comment on their affair. In that conversation, Sanchez revealed they considered various ways to respond to the story. "We discussed the possibility to buy A.M.I.-not to kill the story, but to find out the source," Sanchez told VF's Gabriel Sherman. "We discussed numbers and the name of the LLC that we’d use. It would be called BOBO LCC," which is short for Black Ops, Lauren’s helicopter filming company, and Blue Origin, the name of Bezos's space company. Sanchez added: "That’s the level of detail we went into."

Though the idea of buying A.M.I. was apparently dismissed, it wouldn't be the first media acquisition for the Amazon billionaire. Bezos bought the Washington Post (which had previously been owned by the Graham family) in 2013 for $250 million.

Michael Sanchez has found himself embroiled in the scandal, as multiple reports claim he is one who leaked the information to the Enquirer. Sanchez has denied the claims.
