Jeanne Muchnick's 'Best thing I ate this week": It's everything but the kitchen sink

Sometimes, the best thing I ate is the most fun thing I ate. And nothing's more fun than the "Everything But the Kitchen Sink" at Reilly's Public House in Piermont.

The bar snack — which easily feeds three to four people — is a mini sink filled with chicken wings, chicken tenders, mozzarella sticks, waffle fries and onion rings and comes with assorted sauces. It all goes great with a beer (or whiskey). And it definitley makes a statement. (Order one and you'll no doubt have people at the next table start to ask you questions and want one of their own.)

This being an eatery devoted to elevated Irish fare (complete with Irish radio on in the background, making you feel like you're in the Emerald Isle), there are plenty of Irish liquors to help keep the fun going, including Roe & Co. whiskey, a favorite of Irish-born co-owner Bernie Reilly. There are also lots of new summer cocktails including a Guava Old Fashioned, a Watermelon Refresher and a Reilly's Piña Colada, as well as new summer specials featuring lobster and avocado toast, a smashed chickpea sandwich and a Starburst salad filled with fresh berries, oranges, cucumbers, kale, candied walnuts and goat cheese (I added salmon).

The family-owned restaurant — Bernie's wife, Anne, is a seasoned restaurateur who's owned Connolly's in New York City since 1991 and grew up in the business — is big on hospitality. And on keeping things ever-evolving.

That means an updated patio that features the restaurant's new retractable roof, which allows in the sunshine on warm days.

The restaurant, which is overseen by the Reilly's son Kevin (their other three kids are also involved), will celebrate its one-year anniversary July 8. Stay tuned to their social media for updates on a celebration.
