Jeanne Muchnick's Best Thing I Ate This Week: shrimp scampi pizza in Mount Kisco

I love shrimp and I love pizza. That's why the shrimp scampi pizza at Exit 4 Food Hall in Mount Kisco is the "Best Thing I Ate This Week." It's so good, add it to your "drive-worthy" category.

The secret, according to Chef/Owner Isi Albanese, is the garlic. But also the crust, which is baked to a perfect crispiness. I could also soak up the sauce and drink it for dinner (can you tell I love butter, wine and garlic?). Albanese, a longtime restaurateur, has also perfected the packaging for easy takeout. The pizza box is actually circular — to accommodate the pizza's shape — and you can use it to heat up the pizza up to 425 degrees (just take off the top).

Even better for those with Celiac or other dietary issues: It's just as good in their gluten-free version.

I'm also a fan of their cocktails (try the sangria), Wagyu French dip sliders, sushi doughnut, sushi roll, Nutella beignets and the triple chocolate chip cookie skillet with vanilla ice cream.

The restaurant, which used to be a food hall with various stations, turned to a completely full-service operation in 2022 with wait service and indoor and outdoor seating. The space, however, has been various eateries since 2016 under the same ownership, including Pizza Pizzazz (1991), Bellizzi (2000) and, since 2016, Exit 4 Food Hall.
