Jean Smart Gives Health Update Following Heart Procedure

After a recent health scare, the 'Hacks' star implored fans to 'listen to their bodies.'

Jean Smart revealed she's recovering from "a recent, successful heart procedure."

The Hacks star took to social media to let fans know that she's doing well and glad she listened to her body, noting that February is dedicated to heart health education across the U.S., making her statement supremely timely.

“February is American Heart Month–a time when the nation spotlights heart health, so it feels important to share with all of you that I am recovering from a recent successful heart procedure,” she wrote on Instagram. “I am fortunate to have excellent care and support from family and friends while I continue to recuperate. Please listen to your body and talk to your doctor–I’m very glad I did!”

Smart did not provide any other details about the procedure she underwent, but we're just glad to hear she's on the mend–as are fans who have anxiously awaited new seasons of the HBO Max original since season two concluded in June 2022.

Following Smart's announcement, scores of famous friends and her co-stars left well-wishes for the star in the comments.

"We love you ❤️," wrote fellow Hacks star Johnny Sibilly.

Actress Nancy Justine McKeon later chimed in, "Sending you love♥️♥️!!"

Melissa Peterman kept it simple, sharing just a few red heart emojis, "❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️."

Even the official Instagram account for the American Heart Association got in on the love, sharing the heartfelt message: "Thank you for sharing your story! Wishing you a speedy recovery. ❤️❤️❤️."

As Parade previously reported, production on season three of Hacks has been paused as Smart is healing and is expected to continue on or around March 13. Production for season three is said to have initially begun some time after Thanksgiving, only resuming in January after a brief holiday break.
