Who is Kieran Culkin's wife, Jazz Charton?

Kieran Culkin’s wife Jazz Charton had a pretty different upbringing from her actor husband—she was raised on a whole different continent. The London-born Charton was raised by a single mother, former model turned artist Corinne “Coco” Charton. After Jazz moved to New York City in September 2010, it was her mother who convinced her to stay.

Jazz herself has been described as a former fashion model, however Culkin has disputed this description. According to him, she was apparently working in the music department of an ad agency when she met Culkin at a bar in 2012.

Culkin revealed his future wife was actually with another man when he approached her, after waiting for his rival to go to the bathroom, “I asked if he was her boyfriend and when she said no, I asked if I could be her boyfriend. We’ve been together ever since.”

The actor went into more detail about their first conversation. "I said, 'I'm Kieran. You have an English accent. What's your name?' She said, 'Jazz.' I said, 'J-A-Z-Z, like the music?' And she said, 'Yeah.' And I said, 'Well, that's f-----g stupid.'”

Lucky for him she has a good sense of humor!

When and where did Kieran Culkin get married?

Kieran Culkin and his wife Jazz Charton have an unusual wedding story. The two married roughly a year after meeting—during a road trip! The June 22, 2013 nuptials took place in Iowa.

Charton has shared memories of the special day on her Instagram, writing in 2017, “#tbt to taking time out of our road trip to get married by the side of the road in Iowa during a storm 4 years ago today. Still the best pit stop I've ever made."

In 2020, the former Londoner went into a bit more detail: “7 years ago we went on what was supposed to be a 6 week road trip but ended up taking 3 1/2 months. 7 years ago we fell in love with Iowa. 7 years ago we met a girl named Kinsey who helped us get our marriage license and 7 years ago today we said I do in the rain with 3 strangers.”

Where do Kieran Culkin and his wife live?

Kieran Culkin and his wife Jazz Charton currently live in New York with their two children. The pair recently reportedly bought a three-bedroom home in Brooklyn after spending many years squeezing into a one-bedroom apartment in Manhattan!

Culkin revealed how the small space took its toll when the couple were forced to relinquish their bedroom to their oldest child. “We live in New York City apartments… like, the corner of our bedroom is the nursery. So, we weren’t really prepared for all that… And then eventually friends kept telling us ‘You know you’re going to have to give that kid its own room’. We have a one-bedroom apartment, there’s, what, the kitchen? I don’t know, where does it go? So eventually the kid took our bedroom and then my wife—who was pregnant the second time while we were shooting through the pandemic—we’re sleeping on a mattress on the living room floor because the baby has the bedroom. She at one point turns to me and she goes, ‘You see how we live, right? You know you’re on a hit TV show, right?’ I’m like, ‘Yeah alright we’ll move, we’ll move!’"

As of September 2022, the family had yet to move into their new home as it was still being renovated. Yikes!

Now that Succession is airing its final season and Culkin is no longer tied to the area for the series, who knows where the family may end up!

While Charton shares snippets of the family’s home life on her public Instagram, Culkin is not on social media.

This desire for privacy is likely due to Culkin growing up in the public eye and wanting to keep as much of his personal life as private as possible and to potentially spare his children some of what he experienced in his own childhood as well.

In October 2021, the actor recalled disturbing incidents with fans during his childhood, particularly when it came to his brother Macauley, “He would get harassed on the street. One time, a woman pulled off his hat and looked at him and said, ‘Yeah, it’s him! You’re not that cute.’ And then handed the hat back and walked away.”

Culkin also discussed shying away from the spotlight after finding success at 19 with Igby Goes Down, “I was definitely not ready. I would not have been able to handle it, and I think I knew that. I would not have been able to handle whatever kind of success or attention came from that. So I quite literally ran away from it.”

Kieran and Jazz did delight fans by sharing a kiss at the Season 4 premiere of Succession in March 2023, proving that they're on board with occasional PDA.
