Jason Sudeikis Reacts to Don Cheadle’s “Wrap It Up” Gesture During His Golden Globes Speech

In case there was any doubt, Jason Sudeikis has nothing but love for Don Cheadle.

Last night, the two actors sparked a social-media frenzy after Jason took home the Golden Globe award in the Best Actor in a TV Series, Musical or Comedy category for his starring role in Ted Lasso. After about a minute and a half of Jason going on (and on, and on) thanking the Hollywood Foreign Press and his Ted Lasso cast and crew members, Don, a fellow Best Actor nominee for his work in Black Monday, jokingly motioned for Jason to wrap up his acceptance speech.

Noticing Don's signal, Jason started chuckling to himself and did what he was told moments later. "Don's right, I've got to wrap this puppy up. [This has] never been my forte," he smiled and concluded.

Those watching at home instantly took to Twitter to talk about the exchange. Many thought Don was joking and being friendly. Others tweeted about how relatable the moment was, especially for those who endure long Zoom meetings.

Thankfully, Jason addressed the meme-able moment when he attended a virtual press conference after the ceremony.

"Hey that’s just Kansas City love," Jason said, referring to the city both he and Don are from. "If anyone was going to tell me … He knew I’d listen to him. That’s all that is. A lot of people don’t know that he’s an excellent stage manager as well as an a American acting icon. The guy’s got chops, you know?"

In other words, Jason found the exchange to be just as hilarious as most people did. Fair warning, though — we have a feeling Don's "wrap it up" meme is here to stay.
