"This was like, a full-on nepotism hire."

While some celebrities with famous relatives are ashamed to be seen as "nepo babies," Jason Ritter is embracing his lucky beginnings.

During a recent episode of SiriusXM's The Jess Cagle Show, Jason talked about getting his first role thanks to his dad, late actor John Ritter.

"When I was a little kid—maybe 6 or something like that—my dad was doing this cartoon called The Real Story of O' Christmas Tree," he recalled.

"I will say, without any hesitation, this was like a full-on nepotism hire, I will admit that," Jason noted. "[My dad] for sure got me the job."

The actor continued, "I did try to stay away from [getting jobs through my dad] later, but yeah, I got to play Little Acorn in The Real Story of O' Christmas Tree and he played my Uncle Piney."

Jason also recalled hearing the recording of his first acting gig and not recognizing his own voice.

"It was funny because as I grew up and I found that recording again, I went, 'Oh, they must've sped up my voice to make it that high!' but my mom and dad were like, 'No, it was pretty high,'" Jason recalled.

John, who was best known for starring in Three's Company, passed away in 2003. He also came from a family of entertainers. His father, Tex Ritter, was a country singer and actor.

Jason has since continued in his dad and grandfather's footsteps with numerous acting roles.

Jason was recently on Hulu's limited series Candy as Deputy Denny Reese and starred as Pat in Netflix's Raising Dion. He'll soon join CBS' Matlock revival.
