Jason Momoa Had a Surprise 40th Birthday Party (& It Included a Guinness Cake)

In honor of Jason Momoa’s 40th birthday on August 1, his friends went behind his back and planned a Guinness-themed surprise party over the weekend.

While we’re admittedly hurt that we didn’t receive an invite, the actor posted a behind-the-scenes video on his personal YouTube channel, detailing the entire night from start to finish. (So, hey, we’ll take what we can get.)

The beginning of the clip shows a montage of Momoa signing autographs, meeting fans and promoting Aquaman 2. (Disclaimer: The rest of the video contains loads of f-bombs and curse words. You’ve been warned.)

Although the actor thinks he’s going to a sushi dinner with friends, that all changes later that night when he walks into a room filled with his closest friends, who immediately begin singing “Happy Birthday.”

Right on cue, Momoa’s friends present him with his favorite drink (Guinness), which has his face printed across the foam, along with “Guinness time!” (We’ll drink to that.)

Of course, no beer would be complete without a complimentary cake. After greeting his guests, Momoa indulges in a custom cake that is made out of—wait for it—whiskey and Guinness. But instead of cutting the dessert, the group passes it around, taking bites out of the delectable masterpiece.

After the hype dies down, Momoa breaks out his phone to FaceTime his wife, Lisa Bonet, and two kids, Lola (12) and Nakoa-Wo (10).

Cheers to the big 4-0!
