  • Jason Momoa gave a health update after having undergone hernia surgery in March.

  • The 43-year-old said he is “still not really doing sit-ups,” and joked that he had a “dad bod.”

  • Mamoa sustained the injury on the set of Aquaman 2.

Since Jason Momoa underwent hernia surgery in March, he may be taking it easier in the gym, but James Corden isn’t letting that pass for a “dad bod.”

The Aquaman star appeared on The Late Late Show with Corden and Kristen Bell this week, and when Corden asked about his recovery, he said he’s “all good,” but lamented about the lack of sit-ups he’s been doing.

“Still not really doing sit-ups,” he said. “Trying to keep that dad bod going for a little bit longer. You know what I mean?” Corden, did not, in fact, know what he meant. Because the Momoa who sat before him was very much muscular.

“You can’t say you’ve got a dad bod!” Corden exclaimed. “You can’t. It’s not a dad bod.”

Bell, who admitted to being a huge fan of Momoa’s, interjected: “He can say whatever he wants!”

Momoa then retreated. “Well, I don’t want to do any more sit-ups!” he laughed.

Frankly, it’s amazing that Momoa has recovered so quickly, given that he seems to run on zero downtime. The actor literally iced his post-op stitches backstage at the Oscars in March, and in May, jumped right into filming the new Fast and Furious film in Europe. He also told Corden that he spent time overseas taking his kids to concerts to see some of the greats—The Rolling Stones, Guns ’N Roses, and Billie Eilish. In July, he was also in a head-on collision with a motorcyclist in California, but thankfully, both parties walked away unscathed.

As for the hernia, a May Instagram post of Momoa in an MRI machine prompted concern from fans, but he later made clear that he was just getting checked up. “You got to break some eggs to make an omelette,” he captioned the post. “Aloha j. thankful for my ohana and friends.”

At the Oscars, he told Extra that he sustained the injury while filming Aquaman 2. “Throwing bodies around ... getting old, bro, he said.

We’re glad Mamoa is feeling okay, but it might finally be time for the actor to consider a stunt double.
