If you watched Kelce, you know that Jason Kelce was not the most helpful when it came to packing the hospital bag for when his wife Kylie gave birth to their third child. The center for the Philadelphia Eagles kept insisting they bring a fan. His suggestion — and persistence — drove his wife crazy. She promised that if he brought the fan, she would personally kick him out.

“Just think how nice it’s gonna be when you get those stirrups off and you have a nice breeze going across your face,” Jason said.

Kylie was not impressed by that visual and said she would “personally end him” if she felt wind during labor. Nevertheless, the NFL player was not deterred, brought his trusty 12-inch fan, and lived to tell the tale. As his brother Travis Kelce would probably say, his sister-in-law is a saint.

On a recent episode of New Heights, the podcast he co-hosts with Travis, a follower asked, “My wife is pregnant with our first child. What do I need to include in my Jason-approved hospital go-bag?”

And Jason, with his infinite wisdom and kindness, answered.

Number one? A fan. Yes, he still stands by his choice. “It can get really hot and uncomfortable in there. If you like fans when you sleep, make sure you bring a fan,” he said.

And now we’re dying to know how both Kylie and this follower’s wife feel about that suggestion. And if said wife will “personally end” said follower if he even thinks about listening to the football player’s advice.

As for the second item on the list, Jason said that if you have a pillow you like, you should take it.

Kylie posted a TikTok from her youngest daughter Bennett’s birth that’s equal parts hilarious and infuriating. In it, Jason sleeps like a baby (is he the newborn?!) in the hospital room. He has his head on a pillow, a sheet draped over him, and yes, the fan blowing on him.

“My husband crushes the role of labor support person,” Kylie captioned the video.

He also never missed a meal, taking a huge bite out of a breakfast sandwich right in front of his pregnant wife (who wasn’t allowed to eat anything!). And he took yet another nap, but this time sans pillow, sheet, and fan. “He stayed well rested,” she wrote over the video. “(While I was kept awake by contractions … and his snores).”

At the end of the video, there’s a clip of Jason holding baby Bennett, who turns 1 in March. “The fact that he looked so tired holding her like he just gave eating and napping his all and is exhausted 🤣,” one person commented. Well of course he’s tired! He didn’t have his pillow in that last nap! It must have been agony.

Next up, Jason said you need to pack “some type of bars” like energy bars or chocolate bars.

“I think it’s really important — and I’m being dead serious … because what happens is a lot of guys pass out,” Jason said.

“It’s really important right when your wife starts going into labor, to eat a bar to get your blood sugar back up. Because you don’t want to be passing out in the most important part of what you’re there for, to be able to be there to witness and offer support for your wife.”

… Your wife who hasn’t been allowed to eat.

Lastly? Jason said you have to bring “something that you can do.”

“There’s gonna be a lot of sitting around and you don’t really have anything to do as a dad,” he said, much to the annoyance of moms everywhere. “So, you know, take a book, you can bring a game, anything that you can do sitting around.”

“Just download some games on your phone,” Travis suggested.

Jason did then come to his senses, remembering that the dad’s job is to support his partner. “You’ll be getting up and getting water,” he said. “Your job is to assist your wife and make sure she’s comfortable. Make sure she’s happy. And then outside of that, there’s not much else.”

Kylie — who also shares daughters Wyatt, 4 and Elliotte, 2 with Jason — apparently heard the whole thing and was laughing out of frame.

“Did I not do a good job with that answer, Ky?” he asked.

The off-mic mom of three can’t be heard, but we have an idea of what she said when he responded, “No, I got water for you.” Then, in a quieter voice, he said, “One time … out of the three pregnancies.”

Eek! Jason! To the fan who asked, water and your wife’s comfort are the only priorities. Fans, pillows, bars, and activities be damned. (Well, unless that’s what the mama-to-be says she needs.)
