When Hypegolf spoke with Erica Malbon from Malbon Golf in September, the co-founder suggested that her brand was seeking out athletes to partner with on tour. Those efforts proved to be a success, as Malbon Golf has signed its first-ever PGA Tour ambassador, former major champion and the world's 19th ranked player Jason Day.

The move represents a milestone moment for the lifestyle brand founded by the LA couple Stephen and Erica Malbon in 2017, as it expands beyond its core streetwear and fashion following. Malbon made its first push into professional golf last year when it signed up-and-comer Yealimi Noh of the LPGA Tour, but in Jason Day the brand now has a player under its umbrella who carries his own global following. Day is not only admired stateside, but in his home country of Australia, and was ranked number 1 in the world for a short stint in 2015 after winning the PGA Championship and four other tournaments.

Day leaves Nike to join Malbon, lending credence to rumors that the Swoosh is taking a step back from the sport, at least when it comes to clothing. The 35-year-old is seen in campaign imagery sporting items from recent collections including The Course shoes and Malocchio Chino pants. Details of the deal have yet to be disclosed, but stay tuned for more updates.
