Jared Leto once again showed off his adventurous, risk-taking personality when he became the first person to legally climb the Empire State Building in New York City to promote his band 30 Seconds To Mars' new tour.

The Today show followed Leto's ascent on Thursday, Nov. 9, with the singer and actor exiting the towering building on the 86th floor where the observation deck is before starting to scale the outside to make it all the way to the top.

While footage showed Leto beginning his journey up, the Today hosts didn't have an update on whether or not he made it until Al Roker brought him for an interview back on the ground.

When asked about what it felt like at the top, Leto said, "It's incredible. To watch the sunrise overlooking the city, it's meant so much to me. Ever since I was a kid, you know, New York stood for the place that you went to make your dreams come true... the Empire State Building was always that symbol for me."

As for why exactly he decided to make the climb, he said, "It was in celebration of the tour and doing those things that you aspire to do."

Leto also admitted, "I was more excited than nervous, to tell you the truth. But I have to be honest, it was very, very hard."

The actor and lead singer also marked the occasion on his Instagram account, sharing a clip of himself climbing to the top as well as a special performance with his brother and fellow band member, Shannon Leto.

"Oh my! That’s a certain level of celebration 😳 safety first 💪🧗‍♂️," commented one fan, as someone else responded, "INSANE!! But that’s another reason. We love you man!"

30 Seconds To Mars released their new album, It's the End of the World but It's a Beautiful Day, in mid-September, and their new tour, Seasons World Tour 2024, starts next March.
