Ahmed Best voiced Jar Jar Binks in Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace, Star Wars: Episode 2 – Attack of the Clones and Star Wars: Episode 3 – Revenge of the Sith. According to Forbes, Jar Jar Binks was the first fully computer-generated character in a major motion picture at the time of The Phantom Menace's release in 1999.

“I had death threats through the internet,” Best told Wired in 2017. “I had people come to me and say, ‘You destroyed my childhood.’ That’s difficult for a 25-year-old to hear.”

(To be clear, if a singular Star Wars character ruined your childhood, you have much bigger problems—or maybe no real problems and you grew up with a slew of privilege.)
