Janelle Monáe Stuns in Plunging Cut Out Red and Black Gown for 'Knives Out' Premiere

Monáe rocked a couture Elie Saab dress for the occasion.

Janelle Monáe brought the drama to the Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery red carpet premiere on Nov. 14 in Los Angeles.

Though she stuck with her classic color palette of black, white, and red, the look was far from basic. The gown was a pick from Elie Saab's 2022 couture collection, which was described as the designer’s ode to the crepuscule—a game of shadows drawn in contrasts between geometric lines and rounded, sun-like forms.

The garment featured a black velvet cut-out bodice with a full feathered skirt. Accessorized with Al Zain jewelry and a red Rodo clutch, the ensemble was complemented by a matching red manicure and tied all together with a "victory roll" updo, consistent with the Hidden Figures star's vintage glamour-reminiscent personal style.

Celebrity stylist Alexandra Mandelkorn crafted the look for the ongoing promotional tour of the movie, dressing the star in brands such as Iris Van Herpen, Cult Gaia and Christian Siriano.

Known for her bold fashion choices, the Yoga songstress recently turned heads in a voluminous Thom Browne outfit for the 2022 CFDA Fashion Awards.

In the Knives Out murder mystery sequel, Monáe portrays the character of tech entrepreneur, Cassandra ‘Andi’ Brand.

The highly-anticipated film's star-studded cast also includes: Kate Hudson, Daniel Craig, Edward Norton, Dave Bautista, and Kathryn Hahn, along with Leslie Odom Jr., Madelyn Cline, and Jessica Henwick.
