Jane Lynch might be getting her own daytime talk show, and let’s make this happen
There’s no doubt about it: We love everything Jane Lynch does. According to Deadline, Lynch might get her own daytime talk show, which is the best news we’ve heard all day. She can rap Nicki Minaj lyrics, officiates weddings for her former Glee co-stars, and expertly shuts down Twitter trolls. So it’s about time she has her own show.
Lynch’s potential show is very much still in the works, but Deadline shared everything they know so far.
“Details about the project are still sketchy as it is in early stages but I hear it is a feel-good, variety show that would be tailored for Lynch, showcasing her comedic take/spin on everything from pop culture moments to real people with unique, uplifting stories,” Nellie Andreeva reported. “The program, which I hear is not expected to feature celebrity guests and will be filmed in front of a live audience, is targeting a fall 2018 launch.”
No celebrity guests? No live audience? What?!
As different as it may sound, it’s actually great news. This is a chance for Lynch to change the traditional talk show format and create something completely new and different. And we would definitely watch that. So, who’s behind our new hopefully-soon-to-be-favorite show?
The potential project is a collaboration between Lynch and Missy Halperin of the Missy Halperin Talent Group. ICYMI, Halperin used to oversee talent relations for Fox (think American Idol), and worked with Lynch during Glee. The two joined forces and pitched the idea to Telepictures. TBH, how can anyone say no to working with Lynch?
Plus, we’ve seen Lynch in plenty of non-character comedic roles before, too.
Who can forget her laugh-out-loud hosting of the 2011 Primetime Emmy Awards? She’s also won a few Emmys herself — NBD — for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for Glee in 2010, Outstanding Host for a Reality or Reality-Competition Program for Hollywood Game Night in 2014 and 2015, and Outstanding Actress in a Short Form Comedy or Drama Series for Dropping the Soap in 2017. So Lynch is obviously ~super~ qualified to have her own daytime talk show, to say the least.
We don’t know about you, but we’re going to be praying hard to the TV gods to make Lynch’s show happen.
