Jane Fonda, Cate Blanchett, Tiffany Haddish, and More Raise Their Voices with Pomellato

From necklaces made of strands of gold chains to hoops embellished with pavé diamonds to dangling earrings with bold gems, the best baubles are meant to add shimmer to a look and to enhance the outward beauty of the wearer. But as most women can attest to, a piece of jewelry can elicit more than what is seen at face value. It can bolster self-confidence, allowing one’s inner radiance to sparkle. Pomellato, having adorned women across the globe in the most elegant sets and single pieces since 1967, not only believes in this ethos, but actively promotes it.

To celebrate International Women's Day, the famed Italian jewelry brand unveiled a video, dubbed Pomellato for Women, that culled a coterie of stars from different backgrounds to vocalize a strong message of solidarity against patriarchal systems that seek to overturn so many hard-fought legislations for women’s issues and civil rights. It includes Jane Fonda (who explains how women collectively are now “at a crossroads”), Cate Blanchett (who would love the chance to “feel how it would be like to live in a matriarchal structure”), Laura Dern (who encourages women to “demand equal opportunities”), Tiffany Haddish, Isabelle Huppert, and Sinéad Burke. Indeed, all of them have achieved tremendous success and fame with their talents, but what makes them icons, what makes them truly sparkle, is the way they use their platforms to spark conversation about social justice causes—a sentiment Pomellato shares.

“In today’s tumultuous political climate, we have a responsibility to do what we can,” said Sabina Belli, CEO of the jewelry brand. “As head of a luxury brand company designed for women, of course Pomellato will use its forum to call for change and promote inclusivity. We stand in defiance to gender inequality, bigotry, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, xenophobia, to any fear of ‘the other.’ We raise our voices loud and our spirits high.”

Since joining Pomellato in 2015, Belli has seen a shift in consumer shopping habits—particularly how women are increasingly buying jewelry for themselves and not waiting for a man to do so. These are the women who strive for the highest possible positions, who are, as the video conveys, always asking, “Who is not in the room?” They are the ones calling for equal representation in every situation, never settling for anything less. Belli, one of the few female CEOs heading a luxury firm, is, to be sure, not only leading by example, but through initiatives like Pomellato for Women, motivating others to adopt the same mindset.

“We are hopeful for a healthier, more unified, more inclusive future,” she said. “Pomellato for Women, in the spirit of International Women’s Day, celebrates the achievements of womankind in its proud pursuit for a better tomorrow.”
