Jana Kramer Welcomes Baby No. 3 & Shares His ‘Strong Name’ That Breaks From Tradition

Jana Kramer is officially a mom of three! The country music singer welcomed her third child and first with fiancé Allan Russell and announced his “strong name” on Instagram Tuesday.

“Welcome to the world sweet Roman James Russell. Blessed beyond measure for this little miracle. 11.13.2023. 6lbs 1oz,” Kramer captioned a new post on Instagram, revealing that she broke from the first name starting with “J” tradition of her other kids Jolie, 7, and Jace, 4.

Roman comes from the legendary Italian city of Rome (and brings to mind all the talk about the Roman empire in pop culture lately). Stars like Cate Blanchett, Francis Ford Coppola, and Holly Robinson Peete chose Roman for their baby names as well, and it’s also the name of Kieran Culkin’s character in Succession.

James is a traditional and Biblical name that means “supplanter” or “replacer.” This was the name of five presidents and even Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds chose it for their daughter. James also is a nod to Kramer’s other kids — so he did get a “J” name after all!

The Next Chapter: Making Peace with Hard Memories, Finding Hope All Around Me, and Clearing Space for Good Things to Come author shared the meaning behind their baby’s name with PEOPLE. “Allan and I are both overjoyed and truly grateful to announce the birth of our son, Roman James Russell. We feel blessed to have been given the chance to create something so special together,” the couple told the outlet.

They continued, “The name Roman really isn’t inspired by anyone, it’s just a strong name that we both love, but James (his middle name) was both of our Grandpa’s names, so that was a nod to them.” So sweet!

The Whine Down podcast host also shared gorgeous photos of her baby boy and the rest of the family. In one, Russell touches foreheads with Kramer in an intimate moment, as she holds their sleeping baby boy in her arms. In another, Roman is wrapped up in a green blanket and matching hat, sleeping peacefully in a hospital bed. Kramer’s eldest kids, who she shares with ex Mike Caussin, also got to meet the baby. Kramer shares heartwarming photos of Jolie and Jace holding Roman that will make your heart melt! (See the pictures HERE.)
