Jana Kramer Provides Health Update After 4-Year-Old Son's Surgery

Her son Jace was a champ throughout the whole process.

Jana Kramer is detailing her four-year-old son’s recent hospital visit.

The country star revealed that Jace is back home from the hospital and recovering from surgery that he underwent to remove a nevus sebaceous birthmark.

The 39-year-old explained that doctors recommended surgery to remove the lesion to prevent the risk of it developing into skin cancer. She also uploaded a photo to her Instagram Story showing a part of Jace’s shaved scalp revealing the birthmark before surgery.

"These lesions appear at birth as a yellow-tan plaque and are most commonly located in the scalp," the One Tree Hill alum explained, adding, “After puberty, these lesions tend to become raised and thickened, and often become more visible and irritated.”

"A small number of these lesions can go on to develop forms of skin cancer (usually basal cell cancer)," Kramer continued, noting, "Your doctor may ask that these lesions be surgically removed to prevent skin changes and possible skin cancer in the future.”

“Apparently at puberty the Nevus can grow large bumps” she explained.

Per Healthline, a nevus sebaceous is a rare birthmark classified as a “hair follicle tumor” that is benign. It must be monitored for changes as “certain types of skin cancer like basal cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma may also occur in as many as 22 percent of patients with a sebaceous nevus.”

Jace was a champ throughout the whole process, as his mom shared another Instagram Story of him in his hospital gown pre-surgery giving the camera a thumbs up.

“This photo was pre-removal. We are now home and it went great,” the singer captioned the shot, thanking fans for their prayers and love.

She also shared a follow-up photo noting that Jace has been “so snuggly” following his procedure, adding, “We decided to take a nice slow walk to get some fresh air.”

Kramer shares Jace and daughter Jolie, 7, with ex-husband Mike Caussin. The duo divorced in 2021 following alleged infidelity, with the NFL player eventually seeking treatment for sex addiction.

The “Voices” singer began dating professional soccer coach Allan Russell earlier this year, and recently confirmed on her Whine Down podcast that he has already met her two children.

"I wasn't supposed to have the kids [that weekend]. But it was awesome, my ex let me have them, and it was like the best weekend ever,” she said referring to the April 8 outing at a Nashville Soccer Club game.
