Country singer and actress Jana Kramer is getting some news off her chest.

On Monday, the 37-year-old star told fans on Instagram that she's decided to get a breast augmentation and lift, revealing that, after two kids, she carries "a lot of embarrassment when I'm undressed." Kramer admitted that she had hesitated to share the news out of concern for the "reactions" it might elicit, and asked that, in the spirit of International Women's Day, commenters "celebrate women instead of tear [them] down."

Kramer explained her decision to get implants in the lengthy post, citing childhood taunts about being flat-chested as well as more recent "insecurities" with her body after having kids, 5-year-old Jolie and 2-year-old Jace. She also referenced husband Mike Caussin's past infidelity, which the reconciled couple have discussed openly, and confessed to wondering at the time if having larger breasts would make her more loved and desirable. But she emphasized to her followers that the choice was hers — and hers alone.

"Time to let you all in on a deeper level," Kramer wrote. "I have been insanely hesitant on sharing this because, honestly, I’m afraid of the reactions. I guess with as much as I do share you wouldn’t think I would have a problem oversharing, but this goes deep for me. I considered not saying anything but then it just would have felt inauthentic, and well, you might be noticing a difference. So here goes. After many years of consideration I have decided to get a breast augmentation and lift. I want to be open about WHY. First off, because 'I' want to. That right there should be enough, but I feel like I need to explain the 'I' part.

"I’ve considered breast augmentation before but it was never for 'me,'" she continued. "With everything that happened in my marriage I thought I would be loved more, sexier, or quite frankly he would choose me. But the better part of me knew, that was a distraction.

"It still bothered me though. And after having babies, I had a new set of insecurities with my body. Things didn’t go back to normal, and I carry a lot of embarrassment when I’m undressed. I don’t want to feel that way anymore. That was the 'click' that showed I should follow through. Before it was what I thought someone else wanted. Now it’s simple. 'I' — and that’s a very 'capital' 'I.'"

The former One Tree Hill star also hinted that her bust size wouldn't increase dramatically.

"I’ve never had big boobs nor will I because that’s not what I want, but a boy named Bobby M. called me flat as a board in 8th grade and literally took his binder to show me what that looked like," she wrote. "Bottom line, I’m choosing myself, I’m choosing my size, I’m doing what’s right for me. I know a woman’s body is beautiful no matter what shape or size but I want this.

"So I just ask ya’ll to celebrate this with me. I’m at a place where I feel empowered to do what I want. I’m being honest about what it means. If you need a push to give yourself that same grace, here it is. No one knows what’s in another woman’s head. Or, for that matter, under their shirt. So do what’s right for you, and I’ll celebrate with you, too.

"I have to say I’m quite nervous but I’m excited and I would love to share my journey with ya’ll. & because it’s #InternationalWomensDay I just ask you celebrate women instead of tear down. We all need support."

Kramer later added a post to her Instagram Stories thanking fans for backing her decision. "This wasn't easy to share but I feel a sense of empowerment now and support already," she wrote.

Indeed, while some commenters cautioned her about the procedure, the reaction was largely positive, with fans applauding Kramer for opening up.

"What an awesome gift to give to yourself!!" read one comment. "Something that YOU want and makes YOU feel more confident! Amen to doing what makes you happy! Excited for you! Love you!!"

"Do you girl and NEVER apologize for it!" another fan wrote.

"Get it girl. Do whatever you want!" added comedian Nikki Glaser.
