  • Jamie Lee Curtis, 64, just announced a new exciting career move.

  • She revealed on Instagram that she will be a part of the upcoming Amazon Prime Video series Kay Scarpetta alongside Nicole Kidman.

  • “I couldn't be more excited and committed and passionate,” Curtis said.

Jamie Lee Curtis has played so many iconic roles over the span of her decades-long career in film. And while we still can’t get over her True Lies strip tease or her infamous character Laurie Strode in the Halloween movies, the 64-year-old actress just dropped some major career news that has everyone excited. Get ready: Curtis has a new project on the horizon.

Curtis, who told fans the news herself via a recent Instagram post, is “excited” about her role in the new Amazon Prime Video series Kay Scarpetta. The show is based on author Patricia Cornwell’s book series.

“My SECRET got LEAKED!” Curtis wrote in her announcement. “A three-year labor of love and respect is in the final stages of the business part of show business and I couldn’t be more excited and committed and passionate to be partnering with Patricia Cornwell, Nicole Kidman, and Liz Sarnoff, Jason Blum, and Amazon and I can’t wait till you all meet Scarpetta!”

Fans flooded the comments section with excitement. “Love these books! Cannot wait to see [it] on the screen!” one fan wrote. Another commented “So excited, great actors playing great characters!!!! 👏👏👏,” while another chimed in “I love these books, and I’m so excited to see you and Nicole starring in this series!!! It will be a huge hit!”

Oscar nominee Jamie Lee Curtis will star as Dorothy (Kay Scarpetta’s sister) alongside Oscar winner Nicole Kidman in the titular role, Kay, according to Deadline, which also reported that the series is expected to be approved for two eight-episode seasons and will be executively produced by both Curtis and Kidman.

“Patricia Cornwell is a bonafide literary trailblazer, and collaborating with her to bring her beloved character Kay Scarpetta to life through the power of television and to introduce her to an entirely new audience is exciting,” Curtis said of the project per the outlet. “The confluence of Blumhouse and Comet bringing to life a dark, fun, and layered work world and family life, spearheaded by the smart and sexy indomitable Kay Scarpetta is going to be a thrilling ride.”

It seems like just yesterday Curtis announced a bittersweet goodbye to Halloween Ends and remarked on her final scenes as Laurie Strode, in which she said: “Endings are a b*tch, and endings are very difficult to do in a very satisfying way.” Since then the Kay Scarpetta actress has starred in films like Knives Out and Everything Everywhere All at Once, even securing impressive Oscars and Golden Globes award nominations for her roles.

Curtis is clearly thriving in her career, completely defying Hollywood’s “sell-by date” she previously spoke of in reference to aging in Hollywood. “I have a motto now, as I am past that sell-by date, which is, ‘If not now, when? If not me, who?’ I say it to myself every single day,” she said in a past interview. “And after more than 40 years in the business, I am busier today than I have ever been in my entire life.”

As always, we are so excited about Curtis’ upcoming project and we can’t wait to tune in! Be sure to sign up for Amazon Prime Video ahead of the series’ release.
