Jamie Foxx's Co-Star Porscha Coleman Gives Health Update for the Actor

Jamie Foxx’s co-star gave an uplifting update on the actor’s health condition during the 2023 BET Awards.

During Sunday's award show, Porsha Coleman shared that the star is “doing well,” or at least, that's what she's been told. "I've talked to people very close to Foxx, [he] is doing well," she told Entertainment Tonight on the red carpet.

"I hate that the media outlets kept running with the narrative of what was going on without having the proper information," she noted, referring to the speculation surrounding the Oscar winner's mysterious hospitalization.

Coleman—who appeared alongside Foxx on Dad Stop Embarrassing Me—also admitted that she’s not surprised that Foxx has chosen to keep his health updated private, stating, “One thing about Jamie is that he's always valued his privacy. If you've noticed, Jamie Foxx has always been on the low.”

She continued: "Even when it came to dating, Jamie's always been private, so it never surprised me. Once I heard the news, of course, I reached out, but how Foxx is doing it is how Foxx should be doing it. He's resting, he's well. And he's going to be back. Trust and believe."

Coleman continued to praise Fox, recalling their lighthearted time on set where they would “play too much” behind the scenes, noting that “Foxx is somebody that I've always looked up to, and he's just a mind-blowing personality to be around because whatever's on the paper he's not going to do.”

“So, you have to understand and be prepared; when Jamie is going somewhere you better go right there with him! So, I look forward to seeing him. I know he's doing great and he'll be back, trust and believe. He got a lot of projects coming up, a lot of music that I already know he has. So, I'm excited. I love you Foxx!" she concluded, ending on a positive note.

The 55-year-old was hospitalized for an unspecified health scare in April.

At the time, his 29-year-old daughter, Corinne Foxx described it as a "medical complication,” adding that he is now on the road to recovery.

She doubled down on those claims in May, pushing back against the media’s narrative during an Instagram update explaining that her dad has been “out of the hospital for weeks” and even playing pickleball.

"Sad to see how the media runs wild. My Dad has been out of the hospital for weeks, recuperating," she began on an IG Story, adding, "In fact, he was playing pickleball yesterday! Thanks for everyone's prayers and support!"

The Ray actor and his daughter also announced a new game show, titled We Are Family, via a joint statement, shortly after the hospitalization.

Foxx’s reps were previously forced to shut down claims made on Dr. Drew Pinksy’s show suggesting that Fox was injured by a COVID vaccine, noting that they were “completely inaccurate.”

Mike Tyson also weighed in at one point, further fueling speculation that the Django Unchained star suffered a stroke, before quickly clarifying, "I have no idea what happened to him.”

His comments came on the heels of reports that Foxx was receiving medical treatment at a renowned Chicago medical rehabilitation center, Shirley Ryan AbilityLab, which focuses on rehabilitating traumatic brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, cancer, and stroke recovery.

However, it seems that Foxx’s co-stars know that if the update isn’t coming from the actor himself or his team, it should be taken with a grain of salt.

"I always just think that Jamie Foxx is superhuman. So it's almost like, if I didn't hear it from somebody close, I didn't really pay any attention to it,” Dominique Fishback, who co-starred with Jamie Foxx in Netflix's Project Power, said in May, adding that she’s happy he’s reportedly “doing well.”
