Jamie Foxx has shared that he’s “finally startin to feel like myself” after his April health scare.

“You’re lookin at a man who is thankful…finally startin to feel like myself,” the Ray Oscar-winner captioned a Wednesday Instagram post. Accompanying the statement was a series of photos showing Foxx in a tropical cabana holding a pair of red Crocs. “It’s been an unexpected dark journey…but I can see the light,” he marveled.

Foxx went on to thank his friends and fans, many of whom appeared in the comments. “I’m thankful to everyone that reached out and sent well wishes and prayers…. I have a lot of people to thank…u just don’t know how much it meant…. I will be thanking all of you personally…and if you didn’t know…GOD IS GOOD…all day every day….”

“Yes He is!!! Glad you’re better,” wrote actor Octavia Spencer, who appeared with Foxx in Breakin’ All the Rules (2004) and The Soloist (2009).

“Bless you my friend!!!” said Hawkeye star Jeremy Renner, who endured his own brush with death earlier this year.

Though this is the second update Foxx has given since his health scare, the exact details of what occurred remain a mystery. His daughter Corinne confirmed in April that Foxx had been admitted to the hospital while filming the Netflix comedy Back In Action. In May, it was reported that he was “recuperating” at home.

Last month, Foxx posted a video that served as his first public statement since the event. “I went through something that I thought I would never ever go through,” he admitted. “I know a lot of people were waiting or wanting to hear updates, but to be honest with you, I just didn’t want you to see me like that, man.”

“I want you to see me laughing, having a good time, partying, cracking a joke, doing a movie, television show,” the Collateral star continued. “I didn’t want you to see me with tubes running out of me and trying to figure out if I was gonna make it through.”

Foxx can currently be heard on the big screen as the voice of a wayward puppy, alongside Will Ferrell, in the raunchy comedy Strays. The movie hits theaters this weekend.
