James Charles is never one to play it safe. The YouTuber has been known to show off what I can confidently say is one of his strongest assets, often choosing to wear thongs to events like Coachella.

Tonight, on the MTV Video Music Awards red carpet, James surprised no one when he showed up in an epic all white ensemble. The outfit has everything. Belts, bling, boots. But one thing it's missing? Pants!

The YouTuber stayed true to his aesthetic and matched his 'fit to his new platinum hair. This brave look comes just a few days after James showed off what's underneath the clothes, posting the "only nude" he's ever taken on Twitter as a way to take the power back from a hacker who previously took control of his account.

Yeah, now do you understand why he never wears pants?

Last month, James also revealed another reason why he often gravitates toward these daring looks. In an interview with Seventeen James revealed that he likes to challenge gender identity through his clothing.

"Clothing I feel like for me is subjective – clothing has no gender obviously and for me it’s just all about feeling confident and feeling body confident, too," he said. "So for me it’s always just about pushing new boundaries and making myself uncomfortable in ways where I can kind of like force myself to be more confident and to love who I am."

The YouTuber also admitted that this Coachella outfit is his all time favorite look, so it makes sense that he would pay homage to it at the MTV VMAs.
