James Bond Himself Stepped Out in the James Bondiest Watch Imaginable

Welcome to Watches of the Week, where we'll track the rarest, wildest, and most covetable watches spotted on celebrities.

It is an old and clichéd tradition that a man in need of a gift for his better half will bolt to his nearest jeweler and awkwardly fumble around with necklaces, earrings, charm bracelets, and lockets as if they have any idea what they’re doing. The Weeknd is no cliché, though. This week, he gifted a piece of jewelry to his model girlfriend Bella Hadid, but it came in the form of Audemars Piguet’s iconic watch, the Royal Oak. He didn’t forget the diamond completely, either: this $72,900 model is packed with 541 stones. In other news, James Bond wore his James Bond-iest watch and everyone else wore Richard Mille. Of course.

Bella Hadid’s Royal Oak Quartz
Bella Hadid’s assessment of her 18-carat pink gold watch set with 3.23 carats worth of diamonds? “The most insane/beautiful thing u [the Weeknd] ever gave me,” she wrote on her Instagram stories. “Although it still comes 2nd to ur luvvv.” He gave her a watch, she gave him a shoutout in Instagram Stories. We’ll call them square.

Daniel Craig’s Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean Co-Axial GMT
Since 1995, James Bond, whether he’s played by Pierce Brosnan or Daniel Craig, has worn an Omega. In Die Another Day, Brosnan’s Seamaster (spoiler alert!) can shoot lasers, which Bond uses in his fight against the film’s villainous Gustav Graves. This week, at the launch for the 25th film in the Bond series, Craig also opted for an Omega. While this one might not be able to shoot lasers, deploy grappling hooks, or set off explosions, it’s still pretty handsome.

Drake’s Richard Mille 07-01
Drake is proving he’s not afraid to wear the more out-there Richard Mille (whose basic watches are already extreme). A couple weeks ago, he showed off an “Erotic” RM-69 that spun up panels with phrases/potential Drake lyrics like “Let Me Kiss You Tonight.” And while Drake ended up with 12 gold microphone statues at the Billboard Music Awards this week, he’d already arrived with the best bling: a Richard Mille 07-01 from the “ladies” collection. Of course, Drake’s version is encrusted with diamonds.

Odell Beckham’s Richard Mille 11-03 McLaren
Luckily for new Cleveland Brown Odell Beckham Jr, orange appears to look terrific on him. OBJ hung out in an unbuttoned Prada shirt this week with a $191,500 Richard Mille made in collaboration with McLaren Automotive on his wrist. Beckham: still showing off magic with just a single hand, err, wrist.

Sylvester Stallone’s Patek Philippe Aquanaut
Stallone literally has his own collaborative watch with Richard Mille—a design that Pharrell wore just a couple weeks ago—but that apparently won’t stop him from racking up iconic pieces from Patek Philippe. The chocolate brown rose gold $35,300 Aquanaut paired with a Nike zip-up track jacket is a move only Rocky himself can pull off.

French Montana’s Richard Mille 35-02
French Montana (haan!) sat courtside for Warriors-Thunder wearing—you guessed it—a Richard Mille. This model was designed for tennis player Rafael Nadal but French made it his own by throwing a white strap on it. While we’re on the subject, treat yourself to this video of French pronouncing Richard Mille (Ree-shard Mill) as “Richard Milly.”
