Jake Johnson makes his directorial debut with Self Reliance, a comedy thriller about a middle-aged man who is invited into a limo by famous actor Andy Samberg. His dull life takes a thrilling turn when he is offered a chance to win a million dollars in a dark web reality TV show, where assassins from all over the world attempt to kill him for 30 days. The catch? He can't be killed if he's not entirely alone, leading him to recruit an unlikely team to help him survive.

Johnson stars in the film alongside Anna Kendrick, Natalie Morales, Andy Samberg, GaTa, Emily Hampshire, Mary Holland, Boban Marjanović, Christopher Lloyd, and Wayne Brady.

Andy Samberg, Akiva Schaffer and Jorma Taccone serve as executive producers, with Ali Bell, Joe Hardesty and Jake Johnson also producing alongside Lonely Island and Walcott Productions.

The first trailer landed to the tune of Blondie's One Way or Another and shows the chaos that ensues as Johnson pursues winning the reality show with all his might.

Self Reliance will premiere exclusively on Hulu on January 12, 2024.
