Jake Gyllenhaal has signed on to star in Road House, Amazon’s remake of the 1989 action flick of the same name.

The original film starred Patrick Swayze as a former UFC fighter that takes a job working as a bouncer at a rough-and-tumble roadhouse in the Florida Keys. While working there, he begins uncovering the corruption of a local businessman.

Alongside Gyllenhaal, the Road House remake cast includes Suicide Squad’s Daniela Melchior and Euphorias Lukas Gage, as well as Billy Magnussen and Gbemisola Ikumelo. Additionally, the cast is made up of Hannah Love Lanier, Travis Van Winkle, B.K. Cannon, Arturo Castro, Dominique Columbus, Beau Knapp and Bob Menery.

Doug Liman will direct the movie, while Anthony Bagarozzi and Charles Mondry have written the script.

Joel Silver will produce through his company, Silver Pictures, and JJ Hook, Alison Winter and Aaron Auch will executive produce.

The film will begin shooting later this month in the Dominican Republic. While a premiere date has yet to be announced, it will debut with a streaming release on Amazon Video.
