Will & Jada Pinkett Smith's New Celebratory Photos Prove Their Family Really Can Survive Just About Anything

Recent years have seen many troubling facets of Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith’s marriage come to light, most recently the fact that they’ve been secretly separated for the past seven years. Despite it all — and these two really do seem to have seen it all — their partnership and family unit endure.
On Thursday, both actors shared photos on Instagram from Jada’s mother’s 70th birthday celebration. Will and Jada smiled for photos with each other and their kids (Trey, 30, Jaden, 25, and Willow, 22), and the unconventional couple were spotted near one another in several candid shots.

Jada’s carousel caption read, “Gammy turned 70 years young yesterday!!! Gam Bam you look 30! We are going to celebrate all year! I love you!!! Happy Birthday again! 😘♥️.” Will’s, which led with a family photo, simply read, “Happy 70th, Gam Bam!!”
The recent release of Jada’s memoir, Worthy, brought about the bombshell announcement of her years-long separation from Will. During an interview with Hoda Kotb for Today, The Matrix actress explained they held off from telling the world because they were not “ready yet.” Jada elaborated, “[We were] still trying to figure out between the two of us how to be in a partnership, and in regards to how do we present that to people, you know? And we hadn’t figured that out.”

Though Will and Jada are separated, they are not divorced — and they currently have no plans to divorce. “We don’t want to [divorce],” Jada told Kotb. She explained, “We love our family. And we love each other. It’s more of a life partnership.”
The Worthy author also told SheKnows, “We’ve come together to decide what our union needs to be for us and what works for us versus this kind of cookie-cutter construct that can work for [other] people.”

As far as their kids’ thoughts on their parents’ business being aired out at a global level, a source told Entertainment Tonight they “feel bad for their dad.” The insider added, “They know he has been going through a lot lately and this isn’t helping. They wish some of their family’s private matters remained private.”
Wish as they might, the Smith kids can’t change the way their parents choose to navigate their relationship. All they can do is move forward, and the entire Smith family seems to be doing just that if Will and Jada’s latest photos are any indication.
