Jada Pinkett Smith Says Steroid Treatments Are Helping With Her Hair Loss

"They seem to be helping."

Jada Pinkett Smith has found something to help with her hair loss, and she has her fans to thank for it.

In a recent episode of her Facebook Watch show, “Red Table Talk,” she opened up about the “terrifying” experience she's had with losing her hair, and credits it for her tendency toward short haircuts and covering her head with a wrap in recent months. She went on to explain that doctors had run every test in the book, and had been unable to figure out what was causing her hair to fall out.

Earlier this week, Pinkett Smit took to Instagram to say thank you to her audience for all of the advice she's received since sharing her experience, and credit them for a solution that may finally be helping her situation. “I just want to say a thank you to everyone for all the outreach, from all the doctors and all the holistic practitioners, who have been reaching out to me for this head of mine, I appreciate it so much,” she said in a video post. “And I’m taking into a lot of consideration all the recommendations that are coming my way.”

The actress seems to have put some of the advice she's received into practice. “I’m getting my little steroid injections, and they seem to be helping, but not curing, but they seem to be helping, but I’m open to other ideas,” the star said in her video post, in which she shows off a chic, shorn hairstyle, sans head wrap.

In opening up about her own experience with hair loss, Pinkett Smith hopes to draw attention to the fact that there are many, many women who deal with it, despite the fact that it tends to be treated as a male-only problem. 147 million people worldwide deal with alopecia, and many of them — like Pinkett Smith — are women. Cheers to her and her inspiring journey.
