Jackson Skier Owen Leeper Backflips The Palisades

Palisades Tahoe, CA, has had an epic week of powder, filling in lines and opening terrain that was previously too thin or rocky to ski.

Big Mountain Skier Owen Leeper took full advantage of the new opportunities, such as hitting a line at the top of the Palisades. "When the crowd lines up, you gotta send it! Awesome day at Palisades Tahoe and they opened up the top!"

"The snow wasn't super deep and the in run was full of rocks, but Connery said it would be good, so we both sent backflips! Thanks D. M. Todd for filming!"

Connery Lundin, the Tahoe skier who knows a thing or two about backflips, and also getting barreled in pow.

Leeper is originally from Aspen, Colorado, where he began skiing at four years old. "We moved to Ouray, Colorado when I was 9 where I skied Telluride. Skiing for me consisted of going around looking for anything to jump off."

After finishing his senior year of high school, Leeper moved to Boulder, CO to attend the University of Colorado. He competed in half-pipe and slopestyle events through college. After graduating with a business degree he moved back to Aspen to ski.

In 2013, Leeper moved Jackson Hole. Owen froths on "sending big cliffs, straightlines and couloirs all around the resort and into the backcountry."

Leeper ventures outside of the resort often to do ski mountaineering, using ice axes and crampons to ski hidden couloirs and peaks.

But he certainly makes the resort look gnarly--those lines are not for the faint of heart, and backflipping into them is heavy!

The true Tahoe season is upon us.
