Jackie Has Thoughts About Being a Black Blogger
Jackie Aina had a good 2017. She teamed up with Too Faced Cosmetics to expand their foundation shades, hung out with Kim Kardashian (resulting in the tiniest drama), and almost reached two million followers on YouTube.

Even with all that success, Jackie says she still has people unintentionally reminding her of how much more she has to achieve, something that as a black woman, she has to work even harder for.
I feel like as a black woman we already know the odds are stacked higher, but when people constantly compare my growth to others can be a bit exhausting

long before I hit 1 million on YouTube EVERY other comment was “why aren’t you at a million yet?!” it was like wow ok well if you think I’m at that level let me work for it!! It was VERY motivating for me!!

a year later I’m well on my way to 2 million followers!!! and it’s now become “why do you only have 1 million followers!?”
And trust me I KNOW people mean well.....but 1.8 million followers is a huge deal to me!- La Bronze James (@jackieaina) January 10, 2018
I don’t know if I’m making any sense!! I feel like we should uplift black creators in other ways like engaging with their content more frequently instead of subtly and constantly reminding them of how far behind they are, as if they can help that lol
