Jackie Chan and Ralph Macchio are returning for the new Karate Kid film and are looking for the movie's next star.

The two actors announced a global search for the next Karate Kid and will reprise their iconic characters, with Chan returning as Mr. Han from 2010's The Karate Kid and Macchio as Daniel LaRusso. This upcoming film will be directed by Jonathan Entwistle, while Rob Lieber writing the screenplay and Karen Rosenfelt producing. No plot details have been released as of writing, but Sony Pictures did confirm a theatrical release of December 13, 2024.

The last feature film in the franchise was Chan's 2010 movie, but Macchio has starred in the series Cobra Kai — which serves as a direct sequel to the original films — since 2018. The show has been nominated for several Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Comedy Series.
