Ja Morant’s Nike Ja 1 Sneaker Is Getting a Festive ‘Christmas’ Colorway

Nike‘s slate of Christmas-themed sneakers is steadily being unveiled as the holiday draws nearer. And even though he won’t be playing on Christmas Day following his return from his suspension, Ja Morant is still getting a “Christmas” colorway to call his own.

The Nike Ja 1 “Christmas” saves its most festive details for inside the sneaker. The knit upper appears in a bright purple with a multi-color mudguard transitioning to the midsoles emerald. A darker, faded purple then makes up the outsole and matches the sockliner, while a third shade of the color is used for the eysteay. Mismatched branding in red and blue forms the tongue logo, mustache No. 12, and autographed stamp on the heel. On the graphic insole, you’ll find a Ja Morant-branded chimney billowing smoke through a snowfall.

As of publishing, Nike Basketball’s slate for Christmas is otherwise dominated by retro models. Kevin Durant’s KD 3 “Christmas” will return for the first time since its launch in 2010, while the Kobe 6 Protro “Reverse Grinch” features a color scheme that’s the inverse of the famous Kobe 6 “Grinch” that debuted the same year.

Given that signature athletes LeBron James, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Jayson Tatum, Luka Doncic, and Kevin Booker are all playing on Christmas Day, there should be plenty more contemporary Christmas sneakers to come from Nike and Jordan Brand.

The Nike Ja 1 “Christmas” will release Dec. 19 through the SNKRS app. Retail is set at $130.
