J.Crew Launches Extended Sizing Up to 5X

Over the past few weeks, J.Crew has been secretly rolling out extended-size offerings for many of their best-selling items. Slams on brakes. Don't worry, though, you definitely didn't miss out! On June 10, the brand made it official as they launched a collection in partnership with Universal Standard that will come in sizes up to 5X.

The collection includes tops, dresses, skirts, and pants and is all available online and in select stores. There are wrist-tie shirting, cardigans, track pants, and one-shoulder tops. With something available for everyone’s personal style, you can take J.Crew’s newest pieces from morning coffee to weekend parties without blinking an eye.

In a press release, J.Crew explained that they had chosen to partner with Universal Standard on the expansion due to their “highly technical approach to micrograding by size to ensure that each design is tailored for the real, diverse spectrum of the American woman.” What’s more, they state that they are setting out “to offer a new standard of size that is about more than just scaling up or down.”

What makes J.Crew’s more size inclusive offering interesting is that they’ve actually been quietly offering many of their styles in this range already without an announcement, showing that there doesn’t necessarily have to be fanfare that surrounds an inclusive size range or expansion of vision. It should be the norm.
