I've Traveled All Over the Caribbean and This Is My All-time Favorite Island — and It's Getting a New Boutique Hotel

T+L senior editor Danielle Pointdujour checks in to Grenada's not-yet-open Silversands Beach House to bring you a sneak peek at this winter's must-visit hotel.

Chasing the sun around the world is nothing new for travelers looking to get away from the cold, harsh winter. While on the hunt for my own escape, I decided to head back to one of my favorite Caribbean destinations, Grenada. Located between the Caribbean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean, the ‘Spice Isle’ has become my go-to beach destination because of nonstop flights on Jetblue from New York City. While Grenada certainly has no shortage of hotel options for every budget, the luxury girl in me calls Silversands Grenada home. The staff is fun, friendly, and became like family after my first visit a couple of years ago. The minimal yet modern decor, mouth-watering food options (try the panko-crusted shrimp, trust me), and of course, the stunning 330-foot infinity pool — the longest in the Caribbean — that wows you on arrival are hard to beat. Or so I thought, until Silversands unveiled the brand-new Silversands Beach House.

Silversands’ sibling property officially opens in February 2024, but I got a sneak peek. Here, my first look and review of Silversands Beach House in Grenada.

Silversands Beach House

  • Guests of Beach House will also enjoy all the amenities of Silversands. A Mercedes-Benz van will shuttle guests between properties.

  • Beach House's five beachfront suites make you feel like you're at your own private resort.

  • The Portici Beach location is convenient for quick access to the Grenada airport and the city center of St. George’s.

The Rooms

Beach House has 28 accommodations. There are 23 rooms, including two panoramic ocean view suites with two bedrooms located at the highest point of Portici Beach’s cliffside. The two-bedroom suites boast a spacious living room, kitchenette, and wraparound patio with breathtaking views and plenty of space for a group of four to relax and enjoy.

My favorite rooms at Beach House are the five beachfront junior suites, just steps from the pristine beach. The open floor plans and private canopied patios makes you feel like you're at your own personal resort.

Accessibility

Two of Beach House’s 28 rooms will be ADA accessible.

Food and Drink

As a child of the Caribbean, island cuisine is near to my heart — and so is pasta. That’s why I can’t wait to taste the flavors of Azzurro restaurant. Beach House’s Azzurro restaurant will seamlessly blend Caribbean and Mediterranean cuisines for an upscale dining experience. There will be a full wine selection and even a traditional pizza oven to help fill your belly while you watch the sunset off the sparkling shore. This is the only dining venue at Beach House, but guests will have access to Silversands' three restaurants.

Experiences and Amenities

Guests staying at Beach House can go for a swim in the 42-foot infinity pool with ocean views and take advantage of all the amenities of its sibling property, Silversands, including Silversands’ massive infinity pool and Puro spa. Longing for a day at sea? Take a ride on Blade, the Silversands Collection’s private boat to enjoy snorkeling, diving, catered lunch, and views of Beach House and Silversands from the water.

The Spa

If you can pull yourself away from the endless beach views, take some time to indulge in a little relaxation at Treatment Rooms by Silversands Spa. Though smaller than the main Silversands Spa, guests will still be able to enjoy signature spa treatments. And of course, with access to both properties, you’ll have a chance to experience the magic of both spas.

Location

Beach House is situated on the sparkling shores of Portici Beach, around a 15-minute drive from the island’s capital, St. George’s. In the city center, you can find the House of Chocolate Museum, the bustling spice market, local eats like Patrick’s Homestyle Restaurant, and serene boat tours to Grenada’s famous Underwater Sculpture Park.

Silversands Beach House opens in February 2024, and you can email reservations@silversandsgrenada.com for advanced reservations.
