IV Jay's "Superstar" Music Video Is All About Overcoming Roadblocks to Achieve Your Dreams

"I want people to understand that there may be roadblocks or setbacks, but you should keep going after what you want."

Make no mistake, IV Jay is ready to conquer the world of music in 2019. At the age of 17, the New Jersey native has already made a name for herself with the help of a serious social media following, and as the release of her new video for "Superstar" goes to show, she wants to remind people everywhere that you can achieve your dreams by believing in yourself.

Teen Vogue has your exclusive first look IV's music video for "Superstar," the first track off her self-titled, major label debut EP IV. After having signed with Atlantic Records in October 2018, the singer has already started dreaming of her future — something showcased in this music video. In the clip, we watch as IV humbly begins a musical audition. Although it appears to be just your ordinary casting call, we're soon transported into IV's daydreams, and we follow along as she imagines her journey to superstardom.

As she explained to Teen Vogue, the video is meant to leave her fans feeling encouraged. "The message is more about chasing your dreams and having the drive to go after what you want," she said. "But even at the end of the video, I don’t really get what I want, the judges stop me. I want people to understand that there may be roadblocks or setbacks, but you should keep going after what you want."

From signing autographs to making backstage preparations, the music video certainly envisions a very bright, and busy, future for IV. And as she begins to prepare for a life in the limelight, the singer has already started thinking of how she'll handle that. "I’m going to have to take the good with the bad in every situation," she said. "I’d honestly rather lose some privacy just so people can hear my music and what I have to say."

As for what's next for this rising star? IV Jay hopes her fans, which she's quick to say mean a lot to her, are prepared to spend the year dancing. She revealed to Teen Vogue, "There are so many more music videos and songs that I have coming soon. It’s about to be a crazy year."
