Italian Shoe Brand Marsèll Opens First Store in Tandem With Milan Fashion Week Men’s

Marsèll has opened its first-ever flagship store in tandem with Milan Fashion Week Men’s.

The Italian footwear and accessories brand announced on Saturday that it has opened a 4,300 sq.-ft. flagship at Via della Spiga 42 in Milan’s Quadrilatero della Moda fashion district. The store spans two levels and offers the brand’s full range of shoes and accessories.

According to Marsèll, its men’s and women’s collections are found at street level along with an additional gallery area for presenting collaborations and site-specific art projects.

Moving downstairs to the basement level, consumers will find a space that is set to function as a forum with a dual purpose: to display the brand’s signature Marsèll Gomme family of shoes and to host meetings, exhibitions and conferences. This room is characterized by long terraces that delimit a central area, imagined as an exhibition space, the brand said. A curtain system has been designed to flexibly subdivide the space if needed.

The Milan fashion district store came together over the course of eight months, with close collaboration between the Italian shoe and accessories brand and Berlin design studio Lotto Studio. Together, the two companies developed an open, modern, comfortable and solemn store with the goal of creating the “perfect Marsèll house.”

Materials like travertine were chosen to signify the women’s area, while walnut wood was selected for the men’s area. And then stainless steel, glass, leather and colors from the Marsèll DNA mixed with translucent fabrics. Walls made from an mixture of cement and pebble grit from the river Brenta serve as the perimeter to a more flexible and contemporary interior.

“The space was conceived and developed by imagining the perfect Marsèll house, a place where everything that has always defined us merges into a perfect whole,” Marco Cima, founder and creative director of Marsèll, said in a statement. “This is an important moment. For the first time, we will enter into direct dialogue with the people who are interested in what we do.”

Founded in 2001 near Venice, in an area famous for the production of luxury footwear, Marsèll is known for its genderless, limited-edition leather products for everyday use.
