It’s official: Issa Rae announced that she is now married. On July 26, the actress, producer and writer surprised the world by sharing that she tied the knot with fiancé Louis Diame.

Issa made the announcement with 10 beautiful wedding pictures by acclaimed wedding photographer Lauren Fair. She downplayed the moment with a fun joke on Instagram, writing, “A) Impromptu photo shoot in a custom @verawang dress. B) My girls came to help me, but they all coincidentally had on the same dress! They were sooooo embarrassed. C) Then I took a few flicks with Somebody’s Husband. Big thanks to @whiteedenweddings for being so gracious and accommodating and making this feel so real and special.”

The pair became engaged back in 2019, though they’ve “been dating forever,” according to Issa’s brother Lamine “Enimal” Diop (at least as far back as 2012, if not longer). Their wedding ceremony was held in the South of France, and Issa wore a custom strapless wedding gown by Vera Wang, with her hair pulled back in a low ponytail; Louis, a businessman, wore a rich red Dolce and Gabbana tux.

The news of her wedding drew a number of congratulatory comments from friends across the world, including her Insecure castmates Yvonne Orji and Jay Ellis, who appeared to be at the wedding, and other celebs including Tracee Ellis Ross, Lala, Miss Tina Lawson, and more — and a hilarious video from @KevOnStage.

Issa has been notably private about her relationship; the couple, who are both of Senegalese descent, has only been publicly spotted together on a few occasions. “I don’t want any input,” Issa explained to Vogue. “As a writer, you put everything on the table. I’ll take input on kids if I’m going to have kids. How do I not kill the kids? Work? Give me the input. Any other aspect of my life? Give me the input. But who I’m f*cking? No, I don’t need input. I’m good.”

We wish Issa and Louis a lifetime of happiness!
