  • The cast of Insecure, including Issa Rae, Yvonne Orji, and Jay Ellis, took to Instagram to share their excitement over the HBO series receiving eight Emmy nominations.

  • Rae and Orji are nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress and Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series, respectively.

The cast of Insecure is taking to social media to celebrate an impressive—and deserved—eight nominations for this year's Emmy Awards.

Along with Issa Rae (who plays Issa Dee) and Yvonne Orji (who plays Molly Carter) being respectively nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress and Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series, the hit HBO show is being recognized in the categories for Outstanding Casting for a Comedy Series, Outstanding Cinematography for a Single-Camera Series (twice), Outstanding Single-Camera Picture Editing for a Comedy Series, Outstanding Music Supervision, and Outstanding Comedy Series overall.

"Thank you guys for all of the #Emmys love and support! Proud to see so many of my heroes and peers (peer-oes?) acknowledged! Much love to my @insecurehbo family and my @ablackladysketchshow family with 3 Emmy nods!," wrote Rae alongside an Instagram post announcing the nominations. "I'm throwing a Rooting For Everybody Black Parking Lot Party! Rona can't stop us!"

Orji shared a hilarious but simultaneously heartwarming video of her FaceTime call with her Nigerian parents, during which she shared the news of her solo Emmy nomination. "Meeeeeeaaann. My heart is so full. Had to call the parentals... and they DID. NOT. DISAPPOINT. They had jokes, prophesies and praises," Orji captioned the quick clips.

Orji also spoke to E! News regarding her excitement for the show's nominations and expressed how it felt to finally see the show recognized by the Television Academy. "I think [this year's nominations are] a testament to the writers and everybody involved. It's like wine. We get finer and finer," she said. "Every season just gets better and better, and I think people have seen that and we're grateful."

Jay Ellis, who plays Rae's longtime love interest, Lawrence Walker, on the series, shared his pride over Insecure's Emmy recognition as well. Also appearing in FX's Mrs. America series, which received a slew of nominations itself, Ellis addressed both shows in his post.

"Can't believe I got to be a part of TWO Emmy nominated shows. This is CRAZY. To my first love @insecurehbo writers, cast and crew we made it. @issarae and @yvonneorji - y'all are royalty. Hold those crowns up 👑👑👑," wrote Ellis on Instagram. "And to my second love @mrsam_fxonhulu can't be more proud and honored to be a part of such an amazing cast and able to tell such an important and timely story. Let's gooooooooooooo. #Emmys2020."
