Issa Rae's 2018 Emmys Jumpsuit Is Embroidered With 3,000 Crystals

This year, Issa Rae finally received her first Emmy Award nomination for her work as star and creator of Insecure, but that's only half the reason why her presence at Monday night's 2018 Emmys will go down in history. The other half, of course, is all due to the unbelievably gorgeous jumpsuit-skirt combo she wore to the award ceremony.

The bedazzled, baby-blue jumpsuit featured a plunging V-neck, an open back, and perfectly tailored pants that just skimmed the tops of her strappy heels. The bodice of the suit also seamlessly flowed into a delicate skirt that trailed a few feet behind Rae on the carpet. She rounded out the look with frosty blue eyeshadow, dangly chandelier earrings, a slim diamond-encrusted watch, and a chunky diamond ring on her left hand, and she wore her hair slicked back in a middle-parted updo.

On her way into Los Angeles's Microsoft Theater, Rae stopped to talk to E! News's Giuliana Rancic about her gorgeous ensemble, which she revealed was a custom Vera Wang design. "There are 3,000 crystals on my dress right now. I was like, are you serious right now?!" she said. "It took 100 hours to make and they killed that." To put things in perspective: 100 hours is enough time to watch all three seasons of Insecure almost eight times in a row.

Rae went on to speak to E! about her Emmy nom for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series. "It's really, really dope to be recognized. I say that my nomination represents the show's nomination, not just me," she said. "Our writers are amazing, our directors, our showrunners...We're just happy to be thought of and talked about."

The Insecure star shared the advice she'd give to a young woman looking to follow in her footsteps. "I always advise them to work with other young women. Work with women who are just as hungry as you are and passionate, and form a team and form a bond and commit yourselves to one another, because that's basically what I've done," she said. "I have such a strong group of people. We've been able to grow together and I wouldn't trade that in for anything. It's about building your own thing and growing from there."
