Israelis Moved an Election Date Because of a Britney Spears Concert

Anyone who has ever seen her wrangle a sizable python knows that Britney Spears is a mighty global superpower. Israel recently proved it is more than aware of the pop star's ultimate authority.
Israel recently rescheduled its primary elections for the country's Labor Party due to a Britney concert. It turns out that the singer is putting on a concert in Tel Aviv on July 3, and a major bastion of the country's political power can't compete. According to CNN, the Labor Party's spokesperson, Liron Zach, announced that the party is pushing back its primary because "we couldn't hire enough security for the election because of the Britney Spears concert on July 3. There would also be a lot of traffic and roadblocks that would make it hard for the vote to go ahead."
He also said that the concern is purely a matter of resources, not whether citizens would choose to sing "...Baby One More Time" at the top of their lungs over carrying out their civic duty to vote. "We aren't concerned about voters favoring Spears over the party. The two main concerns are security and traffic," he said.
Both the election and the concert are milestones in their own way. Although the primary will determine the Labor Party's next chairman (the person who will ultimately run to be Israel's next prime minister), the concert is Britney's very first in the country. She's dropping in as part of a tour across Asia. We're glad things got sorted out and the election will happen without the distraction of Britney.
